Rancho los Coyotes is perfect if you want to experience costarican culture and wildlife all in one! After a 1 hour and 45 minutes drive in the countryside, where you will see melon, sugar cane and rice plantations, you will arrive to an old farm where the “abuelas” (grandmothers) will serve you a great breakfast or lunch (depending on the arrival time - or both if you are very hungry!).During the two hour boat safari you will see different types of birds, crocodiles, white faced monkeys and iguanas! After the first activity we will go back to the farm to see how the old farmers used the traditional trapiches (sugar cane mills) to produce cane juice and make jiggery (tapa de dulce). The juice is collected, boiled and poured into molds, where it hardens into blocks. This is perfect to make a refreshing drink or sweet desert. After the cultural demonstrations you will get some free time to walk and see the museum or the farm animals before heading back to your villa.
