Inositol is a water soluble compound known to be a member of the B-vitamin family. It is found in cell membrane structures and is important for the metabolism of fat and cholesterol, including removal of fat from the liver. It also affects nerve transmission and helps in transporting fats within the body. Inositol plays an important part in the health of cell membranes especially the specialised cells in the brain, bone marrow, eyes and intestines. The function of the cell membranes is to regulate the contents of the cells, which makes effective functioning possible.
