Choline is a water soluble B vitamin. It can be produced in the human body, but natural quantities are often insufficient making choline supplementation necessary. Natural sources of choline include egg yolk, legumes, wheat germ, peanuts, and organ meats. Bitarate is added to the choline to speed up the absorption rate within the human body. Choline is used to make acetylcholine which is required for normal muscle function. Prolonged exercise will deplete choline concentrations which in turn, reduces physical output. Several studies have shown that choline supplementation is of particular use to endurance based athletes, especially those who may exercise for 2 or more hours. Choline has a number of other functions in the human body including promoting the structural integrity of cell walls, the metabolism of fat, and the production of amino acids and proteins. Choline is also heavily associated with neurological function and can help improve movement, coordination, and myofibril contraction.
