The route starts through the largest botanical garden in South Africa with its great diversity of flowering plants. The route is perfect to take during a hot summer day, because most of the time it is in the shade. We will be shaded by yellowwood, assegaaibos, milkwood, red alder, and other indigenous trees. The path winds its way through beautiful ferns. If you do not hike often, it can be strenuous in some parts because of high steps and ladders. We will have a few breaks along the route. Once at the top of Castle Rock (roughly 800m elevation), we will turn towards Table Mountain through the Smuts Track. A beautiful path where we will gain about 350 m elevation and we will have a picnic with stunning views of the False Bay and suburb of Newlands, Hout Bay, Silvermine in the distance. We’ll reach the highest point of Table Mountain with spectacular view of Table Bay. The path continues for about 40 mins we will reach the upper cable car station and use the cable car to go down.
